OCTOBER 8, 1962 was the date vivid in Bill’s memory. After a year of negotiating with government departments, customs and shipping he was able to get his very first 150 Calweld rig into the country. This was the to start his career in the drilling industry. 

The very next day he took the rig out into the field when a gusty north-westerly wind hit. With no experience on any drill rig, drilling was halted as he thought it would blow the rig over.

2020 marks Bill’s 58 year anniversary and Bill still loves coming into work each day. He has many a tale to spin and can still recall bore details and projects over his career that would have Work safe knocking on his front door.

Stephen Pilcher (Director) and Shane Dale (Manager) run Washingtons Exploration now, however Bill is never far away to put his experience on the table. We all wish the best Bill for years to come.
