Piling

Piling

We offer the following services for this vital early stage of the construction process.

Driven Piles

Driven piles can be installed as a single length, or spliced if they are extremely deep.

Using this method will not create spoil and no curing time is required, allowing them to be installed in sequence. As a result, this can significantly speed up the overall production time.

Washingtons’ Sumitomo crane will lift the pile into position, before driving it to the depth required via a tonne specified hammer. Options of steel, concrete or timber supports are all readily available to match the needs of your project.

Franki Piles

This is a driven, cast-in-situ concrete displacement support with an enlarged base in dry concrete and a round shaft.

This construction process is usually used more often in industrial projects and infrastructural works.

Cast In-situ Piles

This type of support dates back to the beginning of the last century, however it continues to be used in the construction industry for a variety of structures including bridges and high rise buildings.

Our Calweld or Sumitomo rigs drill an open hole into the natural ground, ready for installing reinforcing and concrete.

Common sizes range from 450mm to 1500mm.

Large Diameter Cased Piles

These are similar to cast in-situ piles although casing is inserted during the drilling process. This allows us to case off running gravels or sands. The casing can either be left in the ground or removed when concrete is in place.

Large Diameter Pre-Collars

We also specialise in large diameter Pre-Collars.

At Washingtons, we use a  Foremost drill rig to pre-collar the borehole down to bedrock. The dual rotary drill is much more adept and efficient in drilling the overburden geology. We can drill 600mm to 80m.
